Ok I'm Cutting Morgan Off...

From watermelon that is. I bought a 19 lb watermelon, sliced it up, and put it in the fridge. Throughout the past few days Morgan has managed to eat at least half of it on her own. It is time she gets cut off. It's not that I'm opposed to fruit. We love fruit. We love watermelon. Loren and I love lounging on the deck on nice summer evenings, watching the girls play in the grass with a slice of watermelon in their hand. Their faces are sticky and red. Their arms streaked with the juices. They run and dance and play while enjoying the fruit that best defines summertime. It is nostalgic to watch actually.

What I am opposed to, and the reason for this post, is my opposition to the overindulgence of fruit to the point of having explosive diarrhea. You may wonder if I don't watch Morgan closely enough or if I let her have free reign of the fridge. Not so. Morgan is simply sneaky. She smiles her mischievous smile and finds the opportune times to sneak slice after slice, slowly meandering her way to the backyard where she enjoys her watermelon while at the same time making me believe she just takes her time to enjoy each bite out of the original slice given to her. This is how she has managed to eat half of a 19 pound watermelon which, consequently, has had an adverse effect on her digestive track. Fortunately, Morgan has been potty trained for well over a year and we are not dealing with accidents. We are, however, dealing with screams at all hours of the day and night that say, "I have to go to the bathroom NOW!" So we are cutting my devious, wily little Morgan off watermelon until her current predicament ceases. Oh how I love that silly girl, but the diarrhea must stop...

Morgan has a very dynamic personality and is always coming up with the funniest things. Today at the store Morgan had some gum in her mouth and she said very matter of fact, "Mom I need some more gum." I said, "Morgan did you swallow yours?" Completely serious and with a slight eye roll she responds, "Mom I did NOT swallow it. It just fell down my throat and I need another piece now." I can only imagine the arguments she will come up with as to why she needs to have more watermelon. This sweet little girl sure keeps our life interesting. :-)

LOL oh how cute. I mean come on Mom, how could you even think that she swallowed the gum... it's obvious that it just fell down her throat!! LOL :)

I have a feeling that you will have your hands full with this one.... oh the teenage years! :)

I love this post and it makes me laugh how mischievous she is!! She is so cute with her little smile and blue eyes and apparently very sneaky!! I also love the comment about the gum. It never ceases to amaze me where children come up with their answers to things!! Maybe a law degree is in her future :)

What a little "stinker". LOL! The gum comment is so witty! At least you know she will have a quick wit even if it means you have to deal with the excuses for more gum and watermelon. Hahahaha!

Haha! Morgan sounds just like our Eli when he was much smaller. We had to seriously limit how much fruit he at or he was constantly coming to me and declaring that he had had a wet toot! No fun! Hope you are successful in restraining her! :)
