Independence Day

I love the 4th of July. I love everything about it. The celebrating is always a lot of fun. But this holiday has a much deeper root. I love everything it symbolizes. I had a great talk with my girls about the importance of this holiday. I hope they grow up to be very patriotic people. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and remembered why we celebrate Independence Day. I've had relatives fight for this country since it began and I am proud to be a part of this great nation.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to be part of the JDRF float and that was fun. Later that night we enjoyed an awesome fireworks show...in the top ten firework shows across the nation. We had a bbq with our friends and had an awesome time! I won't bore you with too much writing so enjoy the pics!

Syd, Morgan, and me on the float.

I fell asleep on my mom's tramp after the parade. I was trying to get some sun. Morgan thought I looked cold (it was 90 degrees outside!) and put her blankie on me. I thought it was cute. :-)

~Syd and Morgan's face paint jobs.

~We didn't get home til quarter to one in the morning. We put the girls to bed as they were. It was cute.

WHAT FUN!

I love that you guys got to be a part of a parade...they don't do parades in the summer here -- it's a bit warm at 115 degrees :(

I want my face painted like that...and, btw, that monster scared me too!

God Bless America!!!!

How fun! You are lucky to be able to do anything outside! 90 degrees sounds so nice right now when it's 112-116 here! That monster guy was scary! I'm surprised anyone would go near him! Your girls are adorable!

Lainey loves your girls' princess bedding.
I'm so glad I saw you on the float! I'd love to help out next year. You are an amazing T1 Mom! You do so much to be invovled. I love it!
Just so you know, I'm blognapping your float pictures for Lainey's blog. :)

I have to say that I LOVE how involved you are with a cause that is close to your heart and that you are passionate about! You guys blow me away as I read your blog and learn more about juvenile diabetes with how positive you are even when things are difficult and frustrating! Sydney is one special little lady and maybe that's why she got two amazing parents...you all needed each other and the Lord knew that! Thank you for your example and PLEASE keep educating the rest of us who know little about this terrible disease so together we can make a difference.

Sounds like such a great day! Very cute pictures, the girls look adorable. I think it's so awesome that you took the time to explain the "holiday" to the girls, and teach them about Independence Day. I am proud to be an American, and I love that you are too!

When we were flying our here we met a family from Logan coming back from the Juvenile Diabetes convention in D.C. I forget their names but there son who has Type 1 was nine I think?? He was so cute because he was telling us how President Obama came and met the kids at their hotel one morning. She knew your family. I guess it is just a small world!!
