Syd's First Day of school!

Syd loved her first day of school!!! The school did awesome with her sugars too! They were perfect when she was low and today she was running high and they gave her insulin. So things are going well!! I'm sure this is a great start to a great year!

Today we went in to talk to her class about her diabetes and why she has to poke her finger and eat a snack sometimes. The kids were great about it. Then I asked if there were any questions and one little boy raised his hand and said, "my mom and dad....they have a lot of problems." Then another little boy raised his hand and said, "My mom and dad have problems too." This little boy has a twin sister in the class and she said, "We don't have a daddy." At this point I turned things back over to the teacher. I wasn't quite sure what to say about that.
Anyway enjoy the pics!

~In front of the house before school. She is so excited!

~In front of her table in her class.

~Morgan missed Sydney a lot! This will be an adjustment period for her too. She needs another sibling at home to play with I guess...but thats not happening currently so she will just have to play with me. :-)
~The book I read to her class. A BIG shout out to Wendy from candyhearts who recommended this book on her blog. I bought it and am happy I did!

~Sydney and her best friend Kendra. They are in the same class.

~That night we went to a local Mexican restaurant with our friends. Kelly told Loren he would pay for his dinner if he could eat the 2 foot burrito. Loren gave it a good try but, alas, could't finish it. Although he did eat more of it than I thought possible!

~Jessie and Kelly eating some dinner after swimming. 6 more days and Jessie will have her baby. It's quite exciting!

I have a 14 year old that could finish that burrito in record time, heck, I've got an 11 year old that could finish it faster than my 14 year old. Thank the Lord there is nothing like that offered in my neck of the woods!

Your daughter is absolutely adorable! She is going to great this year!

Aww, poor Morgan. I can only imagine how lonely Briella will be when Audrey goes to school. And gross to the burrito!

I am so glad that school is going well for Miss Syd. I remember doing presentations in elementary schools on hand washing and once one child starts with comments then they all have to chip in and sometimes it is sad what they come up with.

Jim did accomplish eating one of the 2 foot burrito's and I thought it was nasty, but he enjoyed it :)

Yay! I'm so happy that both Syd and the School are handling her diabetes with her school schedule well so far. I think it's great that you were able to go into her class to talk to them about diabetes. That's funny that the kids all just wanted to start talking about their personal concerns. LOL!
