Thanksgiving 2009 Part 1

Well the first part of our Thanksgiving festivities have come and gone. For the first time in over 8 years we spent Thanksgiving Day with my dad and his family. It was so much fun to see cousins that I rarely see--generally at funerals and that is just sad. But we had a great time. Played a little basketball. Ate some delish food and dessert. Then we went to Loren's sister's house for seconds. I forgot to get pics there though...bummer! But it was lots of fun. Saturday we get to have our 3rd and final dinner with my mom's family. Enjoy the pics!

~My dad's super sweet girlfriend Deb.
~Me and 2 of my sisters...Krystal and Hailey.
~Me, Krystal, and Hailey with Grandma Ruth--one of my all time favorite people! Anyone who knows her can attest to that fact.
~My dad with Syd and Morgan.
~Grandma Ruth with Syd and Morgan.
This year was interesting on the diabetes front. Last year for Thanksgiving Syd had just got her pump so it was easy to bolus her for the food she ate. This year though was different. She has been back on injections for about 2 or 3 weeks now. I keep meaning to blog about it but haven't had the energy. Anyway we were doing Thanksgiving with injections. It was more tricky. She ended up getting 4 shots just through the course of the meals but she was a trooper. And, I must pat myself and Loren on the back, she has stayed pretty much w/in "normal" levels the whole day! We will see how the night goes...will carbs or insulin catch up with us. I think we will either chase lows or highs but the day has been good. Can't complain! Hopefully we get her pump hooked back up soon and we won't have anymore scary numbers with it. Well after Saturday I will have Part 2 of our Thanksgiving festivities! Stay tuned...

Cute Pics! I hope you will blog about going back to shots from the pump...I'm just curious 8-). I can't say I've ever heard of anyone doing that! I'm so glad she stayed within range all day! That's quite a feat!

Glad to hear Syd stayed in range, great job with the shots!

Not so great here, Jessi was 570 after dinner! I know! I should've set her pump to combo bolus to just release all day as well as a dinner dose. But we did correct and got her to the 250's before we left for home, then it was all good from there. I'll have to do better for Christmas dinner!

What a fun Thanksgiving. You girls all look a lot a like. I am very impressed with Sydney handling all of the shots.

Also you friend Jessie is even cooler if she watched Sydney and monitored sugars without the pump...great friend!!
