Easter Dresses & Update

On Saturday we went shopping with Grandma Kathy and she bought Sydney and Morgan some super cute Easter Dresses. They had a lot of fun wearing them to church and they looked really cute!!

Also, on the diabetes front, Sydney is doing much better with her shots. Unless she is really tired or if we hit a tender spot she doesn't usually cry anymore. That has been great for us and makes things a bit easier. Her blood sugars are still unstable but I guess it takes several weeks before we get some type of regulation on them. It has been great though because we have been seeing more and more sugar levels in a "normal" range. Hopefully at some point she can get fitted for a pump. Right now while she is in whats called a "honeymoon" period. She can't get a pump until the "honeymoon" is over but after that we hope to get one. Sometimes it still hits me that this isn't going away. Meal time is definatly more complicated. We are still getting up at least one time per night to check her sugar levels. This is usually because by bedtime her levels are close to 100 (which is GREAT) except for the fact that they will keep dropping during the night. So then we usually have to give her a bedtime snack of about 20-25 carbs to keep her blood sugars from dropping too low during the night. But all in all we are adjusting and getting used to everything.

Sydney is going through some anger issues which are normal. I would be mad if I were her too. She keeps trying to figure out what she needs to do in order to make her diabetes go away. I guess 4 year olds have a hard concept of "it won't go away." She still asks if her friends are going to like to play with her. Yesterday at church she was more withdrawn. Usually she is bouncing around and raising her hands to answer questions or participate. This time she sat next to the wall, hugging her legs by her chest. At one point she sat on her teachers lap. Her doctor told us that the first couple months can be the hardest as far as behavior problems go. We have found a plethora of low carb snacks that Syd really likes and that is great because she doesn't feel so deprived. So I think as the weeks go on things will keep getting better. Now onto more uplifting information...

This upcoming weekend Sydney is REALLY excited to go see Disney Princesses on Ice. We are going down on Friday night and then going to the show on Saturday with my friends Carrie and Sandy and their daughters. It should be lots of fun!! I will post pics when we get back. But for now enjoy the Easter Dress pictures!!

The girls look beautiful! Disney princesses on ice? Sounds like a terrible way to spend the weekend! But I'm sure the girls will love it.

So I just found your blog from Carrie's, my cousin's cute little boy I think he is 7 now but was diagnosed with diabetes when he was pretty little anyway he goes to a diabetes camp every summer I don't know how long it is or what the ages are but if you would like I can get you some info on it, from what my cousin said it is just a really good way for kids to be with other kids that have their same problems and then they feel like it isn't such a big deal that they are "different" hope everything keeps going well for you!
