Mary, Mary quite contrary,
how does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockle shells
And pretty maids all in a row.
--I thought the nursery rhyme was cute to add here; however, the origin of this nursery rhyme is very disturbing (as are most nursery rhymes). Look it up if you don't believe me, or if you like the sweet, little poem with no subliminal meaning, don't bother :D
I just wanted to post an update on our little garden. If you go back to my May 3 post you will see when we planted our garden. It was a fun day and the girls had a blast. Well 2 1/2 months later we are harvesting peas and weeding like mad! Today we harvested 6 POUNDS worth of peas (for my Canadian friends I think that is nearly 3 kilos). As I type, my family is on the deck shelling the peas so I can blanch and freeze them. Here are some pictures of the rest of my garden.
~From left to right, 2 rows of peas, 1 row of purple onions, 1 row of carrots, 2 rows of green beans. Behind the green beans I have 3 Roma tomato plants and 1 cherry tomato plant. The tree off to the left is my peach tree that already has a lot of fruit on it especially for being such a small tree. My apple tree is behind where I am standing and along the fence are raspberry and grape bushes. (Don't mind the bare patches of grass. I have really struggled with my lawn. I think I need professional help with it next spring!) I also have a couple of zucchini and butternut squash plants on a terrace behind me.
-2 of my Roma tomatoes. Aren't they cute! Our tomato plants are late bloomers because we had a very cold first half of June. (It snowed on my birthday which was June 11!) Tomatoes can't freeze or they will die. We had to keep them in their itty bitty pots inside our house until later than planned. When we were FINALLY able to transplant them to the garden they went through some severe transplant shock and took a few weeks to start growing again. I thought they were going to die but they persevered!
~Just another view of my garden.
--Tomorrow we will pull out my pea stalks and till up those two rows. Then when I get home I am going to replant two more rows of peas because I'm pretty sure I still have enough of a growing season to get another harvest out of them.
~~This was Morgan yesterday. Poor thing! I am glad to say that she has been great all day...no more sick bugs!!

Wow that looks great! It is so big, that must be a lot of work. Glad Morgan is feeling better.
your garden looks great. We only have raspberries that were here when we moved in and the little bunny that lives around here is enjoying them, but we have yet to taste them. Arrrggh!! Hannah gets so mad when we go out to pick and the bushes are picked clean of the ripe raspberries. Oh well. I don't think we will be able to have a garden, because we wouldn't get anything out of it. Anyway, I am glad Morgan is feeling better. We miss you guys, and hope all continues to go well.
It's good to see that someone else's tomato plnts are midgets.... grrr.
You're garden looks great! Nothing like peas fresh from the garden!
SHAMAE!! How the heck are you doing?! Of course I remember you silly girl! It looks like we each have 2 little ones. How old are yours? Where are you at these days? It's crazy to catch up with old buddies and see their beautiful families. We'll definitely have to stay in touch. I'm in Northwest Arkansas right now. The weather is really nice. I hope to go back out West once my hubby graduates.
Your Garden looks wonderful Good Job!!!
