The Day Has Arrived!

The girls finished their last job yesterday and we went and purchased the coveted, sought after, beloved swingset. I must pat my girls on the back. They worked very hard for this swingset. They moved rocks, picked weeds, hauled recycling, planted flowers, worked cattle on my dad's ranch...the list goes on. They cried at times, they bled (Morgan tends to be a *tad* clumsy and fell multiple times), they sweat, and they sun burned. The kids worked their little behinds off and I am more than proud and was more than happy to live up to our end of the bargain.

We got it home last night and put it up after dinner. The blasted thing took 3 hours to put together! It probably would have been easier if the instructions were somewhat decipherable...but they weren't, so we winged it! The girls were a little sad it was dark after when it was finally assembled. It was past their bedtime and they couldn't play long. They did arise bright and early this morning and got dressed. After breakfast they played and played and played! Sydney told me, "Mom you are right, it is more fun to play on it because we worked hard for it." Consequently, it worked out well that they finished on Memorial Day because we found an awesome deal on this swingset.

I also learned a valuble lesson last night...the strength of a marriage might be tested as you try to work together to assemble a swingset with very few directions. :-) Fortunately we are both on the up and up this morning. lol ;-) So with no further waiting...here is our new swingset!

~The girls eating watermelon and helping unload the box!

~The finished chore chart...all colored in and beautiful! (Yes I am aware Morgan looks stoned in this pic.)

~"But dad we don't want to wait for it to get set up!"

~"I'm worn out after that fiasco!"

~"But dad we want to swing!"

~"You are right mom, it is more fun to play when you work hard."

~This morning they were up bright and early. I am sure we have many more fun filled swingset days ahead!

Your girls are adorable, I swear they just could not get any cuter! You are such a good mom...way to make them be hard workers!! For those of us who grew up on a farm it is just part of life, huh? I'll totally make my kids earn things too, great idea!

First off I LOVE your backyard it looks really cool!! I am glad that they finally earned their swing and it looks like a really fun one that they will get to enjoy for several years. I love how the had to work for it and now get to reap the rewards of their efforts ...great lesson.

Also I am glad to know that Jim and I are not the only ones that loudly "debate" putting together some of our kids toys :)

That is so great that you and Loren are teaching the girls to work hard to earn the things they get and that swing sets don't just appear in the back yard. I hope that they have lots of years of fun in the future.

I remember when we got the kids their swing set, I thought Charlie was going to break it putting it together. I hope the girls have years of fun on it.
