Shamae's 26th birthday bash!

Today was my awesome birthday bash. Hang on tight while I tell you about my near-perfect day! First of all, I love birthdays! All birthdays, mine, the kids, Loren's, yours. Birthdays are great! Plus my hubby always goes out of his way to make me feel special.

I woke up to my kids wishing/singing/screaming happy birthday to me! Then they exclaimed they wanted to let me sleep in, which I was all for. My head hit the pillow...oh sweet peaceful sleep. I doze off for about 5 minutes when I notice the secretions of morning breath drifting into my face.

"Hows your sleeping-in going mommy?" whispers Syd.
"Ya mom hows your sleep?" screeches Morgan in her morning voice.
"We aren't going to fight today for your birthday mommy."

"Syd, is mommy sleeping again?"
"I don't know. Mom are you sleeping again? Do you like your sleeping in?"

This goes on for about 15 minutes until I decided I didn't need an audience and I scooted out of bed. At this point Sydney, in a very excited voice, exclaims, "Wow mom you really do look a lot older today!" After smiling and saying thanks, the girls were very excited to tell me that I was getting a bubble bath. I'm game! I love bubble baths! While I was enjoying my soak the fam was cooking me a breakfast in the kitchen. Omelet and breakfast potatoes! Morgan said I needed to eat it in the tub but I opted to sit at the table for that one. :-)

~Syd grating cheese and Morgan whisking eggs.

~After breakfast we lounged around the house for a bit until it was lunch time! Nothing like Chinese food with Grandma Ruth! After we got home we played around for a bit until my sister Malory showed up at my house with her finger split open from an injury with thinning shears. We decided she best go to urgent care. I was down with that. I have had more than one birthday that was spent in the presence of medical extraordinaries. (Don't ask.) Malory ended up with a few stitches and a fat finger. Then we made our way to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Delicious!

~Morgan shelling some peanuts while we wait for our table and daddy looking so amused by the camera in his face.

~Me and my niece Ashlyn. she is sitting on the saddle! Go little cowgirl!

After dinner we went back to the home front and enjoyed a DELICIOUS ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery.

~The birthday girl with the cake.

~It was like eating little bites of heaven. I'm so glad for leftovers.

THEN I have to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to Tib who hosts a hilarious blog that I frequently visit. She is also the mother to a T1 kido. Tib is my hero because she just got back from riding a 100 mile bike ride! She rocked the race and did NOT walk a single hill! Well I happened, in casual conversation, to mention to Loren that I think it would be fun to get into cycling because of Tib's biking experiences. Keep in mind I haven't owned a bike since I got my pastel green bike with blue pin stripes and accompanying back pedal brakes when I was 10. Well Loren took this as a hint and got me a BIKE for my birthday!! Gotta love that boy!

~It was getting dark but I wanted to take this bad boy for a spin. (Purple is my fav color.) I didn't have a bike helmet so I borrowed Syd's Hello Kitty helmet. Looks good doesn't it?

~Oh, and I was very happy the bike tag specified this for me. I mean it has been 16 years since I owned a bike...things could have changed in that time. Phew...glad to know gas is still not needed in order to operate a bicycle. :-)

~This is me after the par-taying was over. I am exhausted! The day was great! I love my birthdays.

~And, finally, for your viewing pleasure, is a little clip of me going down a *very* small hill in front of our home. I keep forgetting the brakes are on the handle bars. Back pedaling doesn't work. :-)

So my birthday was great! I started getting texts and phone calls bright and early in the morning. My facebook page was flooded with wonderful messages from so many peeps who mean so much to me. Thanks guys. The only thing that would have made this day better would be if my mom were here instead of visiting my aunt in Alaska. I know she is having a great time but my mom and I share the same birthday (how cool is that?) and most of my 26 birthdays have been spent with her and I missed her today. But, besides that, it was a wonderful day!

What an AMAZING day! And Chinese food and Texas Roadhouse AND Cold Stone all in the same day! Holy cow- ALL of them are my favorites!! I would have died and gone to heaven if I were you! I love the "sleeping in"- sounds like so much of what would happen in our house! :) So cute! Loren did a great job on your B-day present - what a guy!
Where in Alaska is your mom? I hope she's getting to enjoy the same amazing weather we've had lately!
Happy Birthday!

Happy Berfday! (spoken like a little kid) Cool bike! But I don't think the girls will let you use their helmet for long. I've wanted to get a bike but I think mine will look like those old vintage bikes you see in those photos in National Geographic- wide handlebars, huge seats, wire basket in front, very funky looking...LOL! Sorry this is a day late. Busy day yesterday, and today!! Have a great weekend in the comforts of your home. :o) (P.S. That's a smiley face BTW)
