Happy Halloween!

Well another successful Halloween has come and gone. Halloween is a big deal in our house. Loren loves this holiday. After the girls have successfully received their bucket of candy, Loren will very delicately sort the candy into piles based on the category it belongs in. He will then take inventory of the candy and relish in his spoils. We only let the girls choose one piece of candy to eat each day. This happened to be our rule before Sydney got diagnosed and it has stuck.

I was concerned at how our night would go when Syd's dinner blood sugar reading was 298. She had 25 carbs and 3.2 units later was down at a nice 122 at bedtime. Anyway, here are some pics of our fun evening.

Sydney was a witch. For her 2 Halloween parties preceding tonight she wanted to be a cute witch but on Halloween she wanted to be a scary witch. I would say we accomplished that mission.

Nice job on Sydney's nose she really does look scary and that Giraffe costume is just too cute!!

I love how Loren handles the candy. We used to do that when we were kids. Aidan has his own way of handling the candy. Everything gets poured out then he lines it up nad then puts it back. He also gets to have one a day and it is a long process since he has to re-line it up each time.

Hi Shamae,
I've really been enjoying your blog - thank you so much for writing. The Halloween costumes are darling! My family reminds me of yours - we've been married 7 years. Our 4 year old has T1, diagnosed at 3, and we have a 2 year old. Both girls. My daughter Ella enjoyed seeing Sydney's photos :) One question - where did you get Sydney's medical bracelet? We have one for Ella, but it's "bugging" her. Sydney's looks more comfortable. Here is the link to our Walk video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp_nh0rrkVI
Thanks again!

How cute! My mom used to make us wear turtlenecks under our costumes and coats over them, this post brought back memories! I'm glad you're a good mom who keeps her girls warm on Halloween!
