Have I mentioned before how much I love our local Type 1 community. We live in a fairly small town--about 50 thousand people--and there are only about 20 or 30 type 1 kids. This gives us a great opportunity to get to know them and for our diabetic educators to provide fun activities several times a year. Last night was the annual Type 1 Diabetes Halloween party for the kids. Sydney was a witch and Morgan was a giraffe. They were quite cute if I do say so myself! They had a great time. We love our educators and all the work they do to make our T1 kids feel special.
Also, a newspaper update. Since there are so few T1 kids in our area, I had a fairly good idea about which little boy they were talking about in that letter to the editor. Last night I confirmed who it was. 5 year old Gavin. Diagnosed 14 months ago. He is a very sweet little boy. We have had a few bbqs with his family. Good people. No letters to the editor have shown up in our paper yet but I check for them every morning and will keep you guys updated!

I love their costumes!!! What a cute giraffe and beautiful witch!!
That is so neat that they have a party for the Type 1 diabetes kids. What a great oppurtunity for the kids to also meet others with the same challenges.
Hello! A five year old gave himself his own shot?!!!
What a rock star!!
I live in a town of 60,000 and I only know a few Type 1's who live here. I wonder where the rest are hiding?
wow that is awesome and yeah kuddos to the five yr old as well .
They look great! how fun.
cute, cute, CUTE! I love the giraffe costume.
We have about 50,000 where we live (granted we are part of the much larger DFW metroplex), but I don't know ANY other type 1 kids.
LOVE the darling witch and giraffe! That is awesome that you have such a great community. I've met a few others but don't think we have organized stuff. That's fantastic!!!
VERY CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH for fun T1 Parties!!!!
I can't wait to hear what Gavin's family thought about all that hulabaloo....WE GOT YOUR BACK, GAVIN'S FAMILY!!!!!
Cute!!! We had Morgan's costume one year for Davis and he refused to wear it. I am hoping we'll get some use out of it with Samuel. It's great that the T1 community has get togethers. I am sure all of the kids love them.
That is so great that they do a party!
We missed the JDRF one this year :(
