The Good. The Bad. The Cute & Fun.

Well I will start this blog by saying it will be lengthy. Instead of dividing it up between 3 posts, I figured it would be faster to just make one giant post. It will recap our October in pictures and commentary. Enjoy.

~On the 16th Sydney turned 7! We had a great birthday at a local fast food place with an indoor play area. She got some great gifts and enjoyed her dinosaur skeleton cake.

~Yes, she is into dinosaurs right now.

~Me in my snazzy wheelchair at Syd's party...for times when the walker just won't cut it.

This month Loren and the girls were also able to paint the baby's room. It's not quite finished but they had a great time working on it together!!

~Because of my modified bed rest, Loren has been an angel at keeping my house clean. He even scrubs the bathrooms for me once a week.
~We celebrated Halloween! Loren helped the girls carve pumpkins and they had a blast! They even cleaned the seeds off and seasoned and baked them for a healthy snack! Delish!
~However, while the fam was enjoying their Halloween holiday, I was stuck like this. In the hospital. I have been diagnosed with pre-eclampsia again and, because of my history, they take my symptoms pretty serious which I am grateful for. Yesterday morning after having some upper right quadrant pain the night before, I started to get some pains in my shoulder and more chest pains. They had me come to the hospital and admitted me for about a day and a half, hooked me up to an IV, turned me into a pin cushion in order to run a bunch of tests and observe me. The blood work was all coming back just fine and it looked like delivery wasn't an imminent thing--whew--so I told Loren to finish our Halloween plans and take the girls to my mom's house to make cookies and go trick or treating. When they first hooked me up to the monitors I was actually contracting...a lot. I couldn't feel them all though and the ones I could feel didn't hurt...just the tightening. However, I was contracting enough that they gave me a shot to stop them and the injection worked like a charm!

~Sydney dressed up as Medusa (from Greek Mythology). Loren was a man Medusa turned to stone and Morgan was a bad witch. Her and Syd worked together like Batman and Robin. Except this time it was Medusa and Morgan the bad witch.
~My nephews Lake and Dax. My niece Ashlyn and Sydney and Morgan...all ready to go score some loot!

~After they were done trick or treating they came back to the hospital to show me their costumes. Don't mind me...I wasn't feeling great. It was fun to see the girls though. Morgan started crying before she left and said, "Daddy will be lonely without you sleeping in his bed!" In my head I thought, "Actually he will probably love it. I don't sleep well these days between the separated pelvis and everything else going on so this is gonna be a vacation for him!" I didn't voice my thoughts though. ;) The nurses did give me something to help me sleep and I didn't wake up 2 or 3 times a night hurting. It was heavenly! Best sleep I've had in 2 months! They get brownie points in Heaven for that! AND they switched out the L & D bed and got me a nicer, more comfortable one. They took very good care of me!

~At the hospital the blood work looked wonderful! This was a relief because it means we are able to postpone the delivery a bit longer. At 30 weeks, I am very grateful for that. I need to give this baby as much time as possible to bake in my oven. They did an ultrasound of the baby and my liver. The liver looked great...which was a big relief because of the upper right quadrant pain I was having was making the doctors pretty nervous. The baby is measuring a week ahead on the u/s. She looks to be about 3 pounds 10 ounces and is doing fantastic! They discharged me today but I am following up with my doctor tomorrow to make another game plan.

And we were able to find out that I'm not moving air through my lungs as well as I should be. When people are in a lot of pain--like because of a separated pelvis--they don't breathe as deeply as they should and the lungs don't fully expand. This can cause some issues with breathing. This could be a main culprit to the chest and shoulder pain I've been having. So one thing I have to do hourly now is breath deep in this little gadget to help re-expand my lungs. I can handle that.

So, now I'm home. I'm still on bed rest. But we are doing ok. We are taking things one day at a time and if I have any more symptoms return I have to head back to the hospital but I am confident we will still squeeze more time out of this pregnancy. BUT, amidst it all, the baby looks fantastic which makes this mama very happy. And, for those of you wondering about her name, it is Hadlee KayDean. Her middle name is a family name. This situation can be scary but we are keeping a positive attitude and I know my doctors are very cautious and pro active and taking our situation seriously which means they are doing a great job.

~My little breathing thing.

I know a lot of you saw some stuff on facebook and were wondering what was going on. I figured I should update here to help appease some worries. So that is our update and I will keep everyone updated if things change. Thanks for the prayers.
